COVID-19 Pandemic Annex | Tuba City Unified School District #15

COVID-19 Pandemic Annex

Hello Staff and Community Members,

Governor Ducey has extended the school closure until August 17, 2020.  The first day for teachers to return to work is August 3, 2020.  Tuba City Unified School District will begin providing educational opportunities to our students beginning August 6, 2020 through distant learning and delivering homework packets. The Governing Board has approved a 1-1 student IPad initiative.  Students will receive the equipment as rapidly as possible.  Certified teachers will be requested to return to work for 21 hours of professional development the week of July 27th – July 31, 2020.  This will allow training for safety protocols and procedures and for utilization of IPad use for student learning.

For the 2020-2021 school year, opening our doors to staff and students will be very different.  The Coronavirus-19 has created a pandemic health crisis.  This crisis will redefine the roles that staff have traditionally had.  Staff assignments will need to be adapted and modified to meet the needs of our students in the terms of distance learning, virtual instruction, monitoring learning, intervention and assessment.  Flexibility of tasks will be extremely important in order to meet the learning needs of our staff, parents and students.

As we re-open our schools we are hoping that staff feel welcome and safe as we start to kick off the new year. Tuba City Unified School District is preparing to re-open its doors for a staff members.  Our 9 month, 10 month and 11 month employees are preparing to reenter our schools.  Classified and support staff please see the attached calendars to identify your first day of work.  Currently, we are formalizing health screening protocols for all staff and community entering any of our buildings. We will also have social distancing and cleanliness requirements in all of our schools for all employees to adhere to for the purpose of providing the safest work environment that follows the CDC guidelines and protocols. Once these procedures are complete staff will be trained and communicated with.

Be Kind, Be Safe, Be Healthy!

Thank you,

Risha VanderWey
